Seborrheic dermatitis is a skin disease that typically occurs on the hair and scalp, as well as in all areas of the body that have many sebaceous glands (back of the ears, chest, nose, eyebrows). These areas appear red, with scales, and in some cases yellow oak crusts may be formed.
Its name derives from the inflammatory nature that affects the sebum producing glands; it is especially an issue in the adult population, while with babies, seborrheic scalp dermatitis is called “milk crust”.
This disorder can be managed by combining practical arrangements with the use of products and lotions or shampoos to be applied on affected areas; choosing the most suitable products to use will depend on how serious the situation is.
