Cantabria Labs will have Rafael Nadal helping to raise awareness of the importance of good sun protection and healthy sun exposure lifestyle

Cantabria Labs has signed an agreement with the Majorcan athlete Rafa Nadal whereby the tennis player will help publicise HELIOCARE’S expert advice and proposals for healthy sun exposure to help prevent skin diseases and encourage correct oral and topical sun protection.

The agreement also includes the Rafa Nadal Foundation, which organises sporting and educational projects for children and young people, as well as the Rafa Nadal Tour by Mapfre junior tennis circuit. The synergic collaboration also includes the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, a high-level tennis training centre in Manacor, Mallorca, that has already become a worldwide point of reference where more than 130 players from around the world follow tennis, academic and human training and development.

Heliocare products will also be present at the Rafa Nadal Sports Centre, a multi-sport centre with state-of-the-art facilities for swimming, fitness, paddle tennis, cycling and triathlon.

All these initiatives involve thousands of young people and athletes who have to take special care of their skin since, as dermatologists say, “skin has a memory”. 80% of sun damage occurs before the age of 18, so it is expected that this project will help reduce sun-induced damage through the effect of these programmes in particular, and more generally, through the figure and example of Rafa Nadal.

“For Cantabria Labs to be able to count on Rafa as an ambassador for healthy sun exposure and outdoor lifestyle, and the importance of skin care, is a great opportunity. We want people to help increase awareness, like Rafa, of the importance of knowing the harmful effects of the sun, how dermatologists as experts can help you take proper care of your skin and the role of pharmacists in providing the necessary advice for 360º oral and topical sun protection”, said Juan Matji, President of the pharmaceutical laboratory.

“Because of my sporting activity, I know I have exposed my skin to sun damage as I didn’t always follow good sun protection habits, but I think it’s never too late to do things better and both dermatologists and Cantabria Labs with HELIOCARE are the ones who I believe can help me improve my habits and transmit to others these best practices to prevent and repair sun damage” commented Rafa Nadal on signing the agreement.

“360º sun protection with both oral capsules and topical sunscreen are ideal for me with my lifestyle. I already used sunscreen , but with sweating, not reapplying, and the length of the matches, I now know it wasn’t enough”, added the player.

With the help of Rafa, Cantabria Labs hopes to increase public awareness of the importance of good sun exposure habits and reach more people in a meangful way every year through its awareness campaigns for the prevention of skin diseases through the adoption of good habits and good oral and topical sun protection.

“Don’t get cooked” is the latest Heliocare campaign to promote the importance of good outdoor activity and lifestyle habits. It encourages, amongst other things, the use of oral and topical sun protection and notes that the sun doesn’t just come out in summer, but that we are exposed to it all year long. The Paralympian, Sara Andrés, was front line in presenting the initiative to the media at an event in April in Madrid.

In the coming months, the initiatives of Cantabria Labs and its new ally will be unveiled, with the objective of preventing serious skin problems and the commitment of Cantabria Labs to improve health and quality of life through entrepreneurship, innovation and closeness as its hallmarks.
